Extortion (?)

Mere days before the June 6, 2003 theatrical release of 2 Fast 2 Furious, Universal issued a press release enthusiastically announcing this re-teaming of Gibson with 2F2F producer Neal H. Moritz. Scripted by John Jarrell (Romeo Must Die) from a story idea by Gibson himself, this urban thriller follows a detective (Gibson) who goes deep undercover into the Los Angeles criminal underworld to investigate his foster brother's murder. However, very little has been said or heard about this project since that initial announcement, and its current status is unknown.

DA Verdict (?)

In November 2003 MGM announced that Gibson would star in and executive produce this drama, based on his own treatment, about a hotshot new recruit in an urban district attorney's office who faces a crisis when he is duty-bound to prosecute friends from the old neighborhood. Cathy Konrad and James Mangold, the husband-and-wife team behind such films as Girl, Interrupted, Kate & Leopold, and Identity, are set to produce; however, there has been little news since the first reports, and given MGM's revamp as strictly a distribution entity, this project may be in limbo as well.
